Two jailed after gun fired during drinking session in Huddersfield

Two men have been jailed for five years after a gun was fired inside a Huddersfield house during a drinking session.
Police were called to Basil Street in Crosland Moor on April 24 after neighbours reported hearing shots being fired.
Inside they found Rajmund Dygas, 54, enjoying a late night drink along with another man, 58 year old Roman Karpeta.
A third man David Paprocki 48, was later found to have been at the scene and to have hidden the gun - a side by side shotgun - at the Crosland Heath Golf Club.
Damage was found both inside and outside the home consistent with gunshot.
All three men were later charged with possession of a firearm in relation to the incident. The case against Karpeta was discontinued at court after no case was offered against him and Dygas and Paprocki pleaded guilty.
Both were handed five year sentences, while Paprocki also received a two-month sentence for driving while disqualified.
Senior Investigating Officer Elly Buchanan of West Yorkshire Police said: “The possession and discharge of prohibited weapons is a serious matter, and this has been reflected in the terms given to Dygas and Paprocki."
“I hope these sentences send a clear message to those involved in such offending of the penalties they can expect.”
