18 year old sent to young offenders institution in connection with Harehills rioting
85 arrests have been made in connection with the disorder last summer - with 46 people being charged
A teenager has been sentenced to two years two months in a young offenders institution for his role in disorder in Harehills last summer.
Crowds clashed with officers and a bus was set on fire during the disorder overnight between 18 and 19 July 2024.
18 year old Alex Tiuga, of Seaforth Place, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court yesterday for using or threatening unlawful violence.
The court heard he'd 'demonstrated lawless behaviour' and played 'an instrumental part in the disorder. '
Since last July police have made 85 arrests, with 46 people being charged so far.
