Three flood warnings have been issued across Cumbria ahead of Storm Boelo, with flooding expected between 9pm tonight (Saturday, October 24) and 1am tomorrow (Sunday, October 25).

The warnings cover three stretches of coastline, from Gretna to Silloth, Silloth to St Bees Head, and St Bees Head to Haverigg.

Areas at risk include Silloth, Maryport, Workington, Whitehaven, Seascale and Ravenglass. Homes closest to the sea, including properties at Coulderton, Nethertown and Braystones, are also at risk.

The Environment Agency says high tides, strong winds and large waves could cause water to spill onto land and flood roads and properties.

Flood gates are being closed in some areas, including Skinburness Marsh, while officials are keeping a close eye on conditions.

Residents and visitors are being urged to stay away from seafronts, harbours, coastal roads, footpaths and car parks, as these could flood or be hit by large waves carrying debris.
