The exact route has been revealed for the first stage of the Women's Tour de France, which is set to start in Leeds in 2027.

The 85.7km stage on July 30 will take in parts of the Leeds district, as well as Kirklees.

Starting on the Headrow, riders will navigate a partial loop of Leeds city centre before heading towards Headingley.

The route continues past Headingley Stadium, down to Kirkstall, and then towards Bramley, heading south through Gamble Hill and Farnley, eventually reaching Drighlington and continuing towards Kirklees.

It'll pass through Drighlington, Birkenshaw, Birstall, Gomersal and Heckmondwike - before continuing to Huddersfield before going over the Pennines into Greater Manchester,

Details about road closures and traffic restrictions will be announced closer to the time.

Leeds will become the first non-mainland Europe location to host the Grand Départ for both men’s and women’s Tour de France events, building on the 2014 Grand Départ which saw around 230,000 spectators in the city.

Councillor James Lewis, leader of Leeds City Council, said:

“We might be more than a year away from welcoming the Grand Départ of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift to Leeds, but there is already a good deal of excitement building around the event. "

"(The) route announcement will hopefully whet people’s appetites still further and get them thinking about where in the city they will be watching the race.

"We recognise that some residents and businesses will now have questions about how an occasion of this size could impact local communities on the day.

"They can be assured that we will be working hard alongside the race organisers to minimise any disruption and will also make every effort to keep people fully informed as plans for the event continue to take shape.”

The second stage on 31st July will take riders from Manchester to Sheffield, followed by a London leg on 1st August including a team time trial passing iconic landmarks.
