A man has admitted murdering his partner who was found stabbed to death at her home in Leeds earlier this year.

52 year old Jack Johns, of School Street in Tingley, attacked Gosia Wiktor with a claw hammer and a knife at some point before June 11, when he was found lying on top of her at her home in Foster Square, Belle Isle.

Gosia's son had raised the alarm after she failed to turn up for work.

Johns was taken to hospital having overdosed on medication, combined with alcohol.

Gosia was in a relationship with Johns for around six months, with them getting engaged very quickly after meeting her.

Johns was controlling towards Gosia and had convictions related to domestic abuse in two previous relationships.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Hannah Dixon, of West Yorkshire Police, said:

“This was a sustained attack with Johns causing extensive injuries to the woman he claimed to love.

“Our investigation found that there had been concerns from both sides of their families and from Gosia’s friends about some of the behaviour shown by Johns in their relatively short but intense relationship.

“It is clear how well liked and loved Gosia was, and I am glad for her friends and family that Johns has admitted responsibility and spared them the further distress of a trial.”
