Upgrade planned for Seacroft ambulance station
Yorkshire Ambulance Service has applied for planning permission to refurbish its site at Ramsead Approach, Seacroft.
An upgrade will be carried out on an east Leeds ambulance station if plans are agreed with the city council.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) has applied for planning permission to refurbish its site at Ramsead Approach, Seacroft.
A single-storey extension, along with re-cladding, new windows and doors, solar panels and car parking spaces are planned for the building.
A design report submitted to Leeds City Council said the current garage space did not have adequate space to service ambulances.
It said: “This hinders maintenance of the vehicles, restocking of equipment and drugs and slows down operations.
“It is proposed to expand the garage area and mess room in line with modern standards to improve efficiency of the spaces and add to a dedicated office space.”
The upgrade would protect the building against risks to vehicles and stored medication from crime and anti-social behaviour.
The report said: “There are concerns in relation to the security of the building due to recent local disturbances and the building containing controlled substances.
“The proposed changes will allow for the introduction of security measures to be installed to both external and internal elements of the building to mitigate this.”
A full planning application is out for consultation until September 2.
