Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Constable Adele Murphy-Hartley of West Yorkshire Police said:
“By travelling in that vehicle on that night, these five teenagers made a dreadful mistake that will live with them for the rest of their lives. Tragically, for Harrison, this cost him his life.
“This was a truly horrendous incident that has seen a young boy’s life cut short. It has caused irreparable heartache to his family, and I have no doubt it will have a lasting impact on those who were in the car with Harrison on that night.
“It is a painful example of the real dangers posed by driving a vehicle when unqualified and inexperienced to do so. I hope it will serve as a clear warning to others of how dangerous behaviour on the roads can cause irreversible heartache in a matter of seconds.”
