Reservoir levels 'finally rising' in West Yorkshire for the first time in eight months
The dry weather has led to water usage restrictions getting brought in throughout 2025
Recent rain across West Yorkshire has pushed up reservoir and groundwater levels for the 'first time in eight months'.
Stocks have risen slightly to just over 30 percent, but hosepipe bans are still in place - after a very dry 2025.
Andy Shaw Head of Water Production at Yorkshire Water.
He says restrictions will stay until reservoir levels fully recover:
"Despite a very small rise, we've still got some way to go to get to the levels we should be at.
"We're about 30% lower than we were this time last year, so unfortunately a couple of weeks of rain doesn't make up for almost 8 months of declining levels.
"However, it's certainly a positive change we've seen in the last week.
"We do need significant rainfall throughout the autumn months to get us anywhere close to where we should be.
"We're keeping a close eye on things, and just to reassure all of our customers; we won't keep our restrictions in place any longer than they need to be.
"The restrictions have meant we've seen a 10% reduction across the course of domestic use - which is absolutely brilliant."
The hosepipe restrictions were first brought in back in July of this year.
