Man in "critical condition" following serious collision in Pontefract

A man is fighting for his life following a serious collision that took place in Pontefract in West Yorkshire.

Officers were alerted to an incident taking place on Sprockhoevel Way just before 11:15am on Friday morning (January 31st).

When responders arrived at the area, they found that a car - a black Vauxhall Crossland X - had come off the road and crashed into bushes.

The car had been driving towards the direction of Hemsworth when the incident took place.

Officers discovered the driver of the car, a 62-year-old man, inside and retrieved him from the vehicle, where they found he had serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital for his injuries where he has been described as being in a "critical condition".

Following on from the crash, West Yorkshire Police are now appealing for information and witnesses in regard to the collision to get in touch.
