Yorkshire chair Colin Graves admits the amount of money the club will receive from the sale of the Northern Superchargers franchise is "staggering".

The county are set for a windfall of around £50million after the owners of Indian Premier League side Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Sun Group, paid £100million for a 100 per cent stake in the Headingley-based Hundred team.

This amount, when the purchase is ratified, will instantly clear the county's debts, which are reportedly in excess of £20million.

Graves told BBC Look North: "The investors have paid a hell of a lot of money for the teams they are buying into. It's staggering the amount, I knew it was valuable but not that valuable.

"We would have enough money to clear the debts, that would be priority number one.

"Number two, we are looking at how we protect the rest of the money and look at how to invest it for the good of the club.

"We're in a good position now and I want to make sure Yorkshire never gets into that position again."
