New Huddersfield police station officially opens its doors
The new site is off Broadway and hosts a public helpdesk
A new police station in Huddersfield town centre has officially opened its doors.
The new site off Broadway. serves as a base for local officers and also has a public helpdesk, open on weekdays.
It comes after West Yorkshire Police opened a new Kirklees District HQ in Dewsbury back in July.
Superintendent Warren Pitman of West Yorkshire Police, said: “The opening of the new Huddersfield Police station marks a second and final milestone in the force’s long running programme to renew our estate in Kirklees.
“It is no secret that the old police stations in Huddersfield and Dewsbury had reached the end of their lives and I think it is brilliant for communities that we’ve been able to invest in new buildings for them as part of wider regeneration in both towns.
“We always intended to maintain a full neighbourhood and response policing patrol presence in both towns and this new building gives us this opportunity to do exactly that in Huddersfield.
"Aside from housing the local teams who serve them, the new building also features a full public encounter for residents to attend and report incidents to their officers directly.
"I hope the new development, and the continued presence of police buildings in Holmfirth and Heckmondwike, as well as the new DHQ in Dewsbury, will reassure residents that we remain absolutely steadfast in our commitment to keep policing in the heart of communities.”
