Wakefield is aiming to attract more investment and create better jobs with the launch of a new Economic Growth Plan next week.

The council says the plan will support local businesses, improve skills and highlight the district’s strengths in areas like manufacturing and creative industries.

The new strategy will be shared at Wakefield Exchange on Tuesday.

Cllr Karl Johnson, Leader of Wakefield Council, said:

“Our ambition is for Wakefield to be the best place to do business in the North of England.

“We want to see investment bringing more high-quality jobs to Wakefield. For our area to be a great place to start and expand your business. And for more people to have the chance to stay local and succeed locally.

“Whether you’re already invested in Wakefield’s future or want to get more involved. This is a great chance to connect, share insights, and join the conversation that’s shaping our local economy.

“Our message is clear. Wakefield is open for business.”
