Murder investigation launched after woman's body found in Leeds flat

A murder investigation has been launched by police in Leeds following the discovery of a woman's body at Cottingley Towers.
The incident occurred on the evening of Friday 24th July when officers were called at approximately 11.40pm by a concerned caller regarding the occupants of a flat.
On arrival, Leeds police entered the flat and found the body of a 58-year-old woman who had suffered fatal injuries.
Her death was confirmed at the scene.
A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Eleanor Buchanan, who is leading the investigation, said: “This has clearly been a very serious incident, and we are continuing to investigate the circumstances of what took place at this address.
“We are continuing to hold a man in custody on suspicion of murder and specially trained officers are supporting the victim’s family at this time.
Reassuring the community, Buchanan stated, "Incidents such as this rightly cause concern among communities, and I want to assure residents all necessary resources are being used to investigate what took place."
Police currently believe the incident to be isolated and are not seeking further individuals in relation to it.
