Murder investigation launched and five arrested after fatal stabbing in Huddersfield
A 20 year old man was fatally injured yesterday on Greenwood Street
A murder investigation has been launched following the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man in Huddersfield.
Police were called to Greenwood Street by the ambulance service at 4.14pm on Tuesday yesterday.
Emergency services attended and found a man with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.
Five men, aged between 48 and 61, were arrested in the Orchard Street area on suspicion of murder and remain in custody as enquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson of West Yorkshire Police said: “Multiple enquiries are continuing into this very serious incident which has sadly resulted in a young man losing his life.
“We are well aware of the concern any such incident causes in communities and our neighbourhood policing team colleagues are conducting reassurance patrols in the area today.
“We are holding five men in custody for questioning on suspicion of murder as we work to determine the wider circumstances and background of what took place. Specially trained officers are also working to support the victim’s family.”
