Police have made an arrest as the hunt continues for Dewsbury's stolen mayoral chains.

A 47-year-old man was detained in Mixenden on Saturday and has been questioned regarding the theft of the historic item of jewellery from Dewsbury Town Hall on February 1.

The piece of jewellery is a valuable historical artifact dating back to 1897 and is used by the town's mayor during civic events.

It was snatched from a display case during the break in and still hasn't been located.

It's thought to be essentially priceless, with police still gathering information and footage related to the theft.

Anyone with information can contact West Yorkshire Police via 101.
