West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service have issued a warning, after tackling their first moorland fire of the year.

Crews from Slaithwaite and Holmfirth were called to Marsden Moor yesterday afternoon, with flames covering an area of around of 400m squared.

Firefighters used offroad vehicles and blowers to get the blaze under control.

With temperatures now warming up, our local fire service is urging us to never have BBQs or open fires on moorland.

We're also being urged to take litter, especially glass, home and to report any sightings of smoke or fire immediately.
