Man killed and woman injured in Hemsworth Bypass crash
Police have arrested a 20-year-old man as part of their enquiries

A 57-year-old man has died following a collision between two cars on the A628 Hemsworth Bypass near Pontefract.
The crash occurred at approximately 6am this morning (Saturday 24th October 2026) and involved a blue Volkswagen Polo and a white Ford Eco Sport.
The man suffered serious injuries and died at the scene, while a 60-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested and remains in police custody, suspected of causing death by dangerous driving.
West Yorkshire Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or its lead-up to contact them.
Motorists who were in the area and have dashcams are asked to check for footage that might be relevant.
