Man in hospital with life threatening injuries after Bradford shooting
A man is in hospital with life threatening injuries after being shot in the head in Bradford.
Police were called to West Bowling last night, they found the 28 year old seriously injured.
A burnt out car was found shortly after.
Police believe it was a targetted attack.
A Police statement said: "Detectives are investigating after a firearm was discharged in Bradford last night.
"Officers were called at 10.57pm (8 July) by the ambulance service to reports that a man had suffered a gunshot wound to the head on Gaythorne Road at the junction of Parsonage Road, West Bowling.
"Armed officers deployed to the scene and a 28-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. He remains in hospital with life threatening injuries.
"Initial enquiries suggest the firearm was discharged from a white BMW. That vehicle was found burnt out nearby on Brompton Road.
"A scene is on at Gaythorne Road, Parsonage Road and Brompton Road whilst enquiries are carried out by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team."
Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said:
“This is a very serious incident where a lethal weapon has been used on the streets of Bradford.
“From initial enquiries we believe this to be a targeted attack. Extensive enquiries remain ongoing.
“We are working with our local neighbourhood policing colleagues to provide reassurance and there will be a large police presence and extra uniformed patrols over the coming hours.
“Firearms incidents are rare in our communities, but when they do occur, no stone is left unturned to bring those responsible to justice.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area last night who saw anything suspicious to come forward and provide information.”
