Man in his seventies dies after a crash near Wakefield
A man in his seventies has died after a crash near Wakefield.
It happened on Doncaster Road close to Nostell, when a black Ford Galaxy and a white Volkswagen Touran collided.
The passenger in the Ford was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but died.
Two adults and five children travelling in the Volkswagen were also hurt, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A Police statement said:
"Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a serious collision near Wakefield.
"The collision happened on Doncaster Road near Nostell, between Lidget Lane and Foulby Farm, shortly after 2pm yesterday (29 July).
"A black Ford Galaxy Zetec being driven in the general direction of Nostell collided with a white Volkswagen Touran R-Line which was being driven in the opposite direction.
"The passenger of the Ford Galaxy was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The man, aged in his 70s, sadly died earlier today.
"The driver of the Galaxy, a woman aged in her 70s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"Two adults and five children who were travelling in the Touran suffered injuries that are not believed to be life threatening."
