Man charged with murder of 62-year-old woman in Leeds

Police say they were called to the scene Melville Gardens on Thursday.

Detectives investigating the murder of a woman in Leeds have charged a man.

Officers were called at 9.01pm on Thursday 6 November to reports of a disturbance at an address in Melville Gardens in the Woodhouse area of Leeds.

Sadly a 62 year old woman called Colleen Westerman was pronounced dead at the scene.

John Bootland aged 56 of Melville Gardens and who self defines as white British has been charged with her murder.

He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court today. (8 November)
