Man charged following death of teen in Pateley Bridge hit-and-run

A man has been charged following a fatal crash in Pateley Bridge which killed 19-year-old Bailey Chadwick in July.
A 25-year-old man has now been charged with two offences including driving a motor vehicle when over the prescribed limit and using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without insurance.
He's still being investigated for causing death by dangerous driving.
A woman in her 20s is also under investigation. She was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
On 20th July 2025, Bailey was walking home in the early hours of the morning after finishing a shift at a local pub and meeting his friends in Pateley Bridge.
He was fatally injured on the B6265 at Lupton Bank.
His family said, “As we move towards Christmas this remains an incredibly difficult time for us, we kindly ask for privacy while we continue to grieve.
“We fully support the ongoing police investigation and trust that the process will bring justice for us, Bailey’s family”.
North Yorkshire police are urging the public not to speculate on social media or online about what happened.
