Man arrested after pensioner dies in Leeds crash

An investigation is underway after a fatal collision in Leeds.

Police say a car and a cement truck crashed in Micklefield, a 75 year old died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 41-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A Police statement said:

"Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Leeds.

"It happened at about 12.01pm yesterday (Wednesday) when a red Toyota Land Cruiser was in collision with a white Renault cement truck on the A63 Selby Road in Micklefield.

"The driver of the Land Cruiser, a 75-year-old man, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The truck driver, a 41-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

"The public are advised that the road remains closed for collision investigation work. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. This closure is expected to be lifted later today. "
