Arrest made after robbery at Leeds jewellers which left shop staff member injured

A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a Leeds jewellers on Monday, which left a member of staff injured.

The 40 year old from Birstall is being questioned on suspicion of robbery.

Police were called at 1:19pm on Monday to Saleem Jewellers in Roundhay Road, Harehills, after reports of two men entering the building.

Both attempted to take jewellery before leaving empty handed in a grey Mazda car driven by a third suspect.

A member of shop staff suffered injuries to his face which required hospital treatment.

Investigations in the case are ongoing.
