Leeds murder victim named as family pay tribute to him
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward
The family of a man killed in Leeds have released a tribute to him as enquires into his murder continue.
West Yorkshire Police have named the victim of Saturday’s fatal attack on a man on Hedley Chase, New Wortley as Rahiem Jackson, known as Reema, aged 38, from Leeds.
In a tribute, his family said:
“Rahiem was loved and adored by his sisters and family. He had a beautiful heart and beautiful soul; his smile was so infectious, and he lit up the room with his presence.
"Rahiem would have gone above and beyond for anybody he cared for."
They added: “ A very cowardly, cruel and senseless act of vicious violence has resulted in our brother’s death. He wasn’t just a brother he was a son, an uncle, a father, a partner, a nephew, a cousin, a grandson, brother in law and friend and he did not deserve to die the way he did.
“We are heartbroken and in so much pain and have been left inconsolable as a family. If anyone has any information to help the police find the persons who murdered Rahiem, please can you come forward.”
Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, who is leading the investigation, said:
“Rahiem’s murder has devastated his family and we are doing everything we can to identify and bring those responsible to justice.
“We believe four people armed with weapons, carried out a sustained attack on Rahiem and I continue to urge anyone who may have seen those persons arrive at or flee the scene on Hedley Chase, or who has any footage of them to come forwards."
