Daniel Farke has refused to comment on speculation linking Leeds with a loan deal for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.
It has been reported that Chelsea have turned down a second approach from Leeds for the Ukraine international, with the Londoners keen for him to join sister club Strasbourg.
Farke, whose side return to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest in the the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, said: “Of course, I know Mudryk. There’s no doubt he’s a really good player, but like always, I never comment on any speculation on players at other clubs.
“We’ve made no secret that we want to give this club the best possible squad and to the last second we will stay awake.”
Leeds launched their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win at Forest on Saturday, thanks to Anton Stach’s late free-kick, but Farke does not think that gives them the edge for the second-round tie.
“It’s good for the mood and good for the confidence, but you can’t really compare these two games,” Farke added. “Same players and same managers, but I think there will be some changes in the starting line-up, probably for both teams.
“Also the way you play in the cup is slightly different compared to a Premier League game because it’s a do-or-die game, there’s always a winner in the end.”
Farke hinted summer signing Nico Elvedi could make his debut for the club, while the likes of Sean Longstaff, Ao Tanaka, Dan James and Lukas Nmecha will be pushing for starts.
