Leeds man who 'wreaked havoc' in 48 hour robbery spree jailed

A Leeds man who 'wreaked havoc' over a 48 hour period, stealing from businesses and homes, has been jailed.
35 year old Kyle Hirst, of Armley, committed a string of offences between 5pm on June 7 and 6:30am on June 9.
He first took several sealed parcels from an Amazon van in the Armley area, before entering the home of a woman and taking a set of car keys. He then got into a red Mazda and fled the scene.
The following morning Hirst targeted a convenience store on Cow Close Road, taking £150 from the till.
He then targeted a second shop on Thornhill Road and got into a fight with a worker, stealing his watch and leaving the scene.
Finally, he stole food from a Greggs on Butt Lane the following morning.
On July 13 Hirst admitted to robbery, burglary and theft offences at Leeds Crown Court and has since been jailed for five years five months.
Helen Davies, a Senior Crown Prosecutor with CPS Yorkshire and Humberside, said: “This was an appalling spate of offending which no doubt has caused lasting trauma for those caught up in it.
“With a wealth of witness and CCTV evidence stacked against him, it was little surprise that Hirst pleaded guilty to his reckless crime spree at the first opportunity – meaning he was arrested, charged and convicted in just one month.
“Hirst seemed to think he was above the law and that his actions wouldn’t have consequences – today’s sentence proves otherwise.
“As he has been convicted and faces imprisonment, we hope the victims of this offending can take a degree of comfort and feel that justice has been rightly served.”
