Brad Arthur insists decision on Leeds Rhinos future will be right one for his family
The Australian, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been weighing up the offer of a new deal from the Rhinos.
Leeds coach Brad Arthur insists he will make the best decision for his family as he prepares to inform the club of his future plans.
The Australian, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been weighing up the offer of a new deal from the Rhinos.
He has said he will inform the Headingley top brass of his intentions by Monday.
Arthur saw his team recover from 8-0 down to win a hard-fought Betfred Super League encounter 22-14 on Thursday.
Asked if the performance could sway his thinking, Arthur said: "I love winning and I've really enjoyed my time here. I love it.
"The club can't do any more than what they've done for me, I'm so grateful. The players can't do any more than what they've done for me.
"It's purely just a decision around my family but I'm in a good space to be able to make that decision now."
Leeds' victory lifted them into fourth in the table and kept them firmly in contention for a top-two finish.
Arthur hailed the battling qualities of his side, who hit back to lead at half-time with Lachlan Miller and Sam Lisone tries.
James Bentley added another but the result was not settled until Brodie Croft went over late on, moments after Josh Charnley spurned a golden chance for Leigh.
Arthur said: "The character in the team is in the fight. That has been there for 21 weeks, and that's the most impressive thing for me at the moment. That shows you that the players really care.
"They buy in for the club. We haven't nailed our footy all the time, and that's a bit of a work on, but for the majority of the game it was really good.
"We're just gifting cheap field position through some dumb things at times. If we can just get that out of the performance we should be OK."
Leigh coach Adrian Lam felt his side would have snatched victory had Charnley managed to catch a kick from Lachlan Lam shortly before Croft's decisive score.
The Leopards were trailing by just two points at the time but Charnley, with seemingly a clear run to the line in front of him, saw the ball slip from his grasp.
Lam said: "It was a big moment and we didn't nail it. That certainly would have changed the outcome, in my opinion."
Defeat meant Leigh, for whom Keanan Brand crossed twice after Umyla Hanley's opener, missed the chance to move second in the table.
Lam said: "I'm a little frustrated, really. I thought things went against us but we still had a chance to win it during the last four or five minutes.
"It was a pretty tough game, had a semi-final feel about it but I thought we put a lot of pressure on ourselves doing some dumb things at crucial times.
"I'm disappointed that we didn't take this opportunity at home against a quality side. It's a reminder of the hard work needed and you've got to keep your standards high."
