Leeds drug dealer caught with half kilo of cocaine jailed for more than 10 years
Thomas Meerun and his partner Charlotte Donoghue were sentenced at Leeds Crown Court earlier this week
A Leeds drug dealer has been jailed for more than 10 years, for selling kilograms of cocaine and ketamine across Leeds.
Thomas Meerun, 35, of Holt Park Way in Adel was caught by policing using evidence from the EncroChat network - a major communication platform for drug dealers that was infiltrated by law enforcement.
It was determined he was involved in the supply of at least three kilos of cocaine and 22 kilos of ketamine between March and June 2020.
He was arrested in February 2021 and found to be carrying £20,000 in cash which was to be used to pay for drugs later the same day.
A search of his home led to the discovery of a half kilo block of cocaine along with a kit to test its purity.
A further £113,000 of cash was recovered from other properties, along with approximately £300,000 worth of high value watches in a safety deposit box.
Cannabis was also found growing at the home of Meerun's partner, 32 year old Charlotte Donoghue of Broadgate Lane, Horsforth.
Meerun admitted to being concerned in the supply of cocaine, concerned in the supply of ketamine, producing cannabis, possession with intent to supply cannabis, seven counts of possessing or acquiring criminal property and one count of money laundering.
He was handed a 10 year eight month sentence at Leeds Crown Court on Monday (July 21).
Donoghue was handed a 150 hour community order after admitting to two counts of possessing or acquiring criminal property, producing cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
Detective Inspector Kevin Daly of West Yorkshire Police said: “Our investigations confirmed that Meerun was a key player in the supply of drugs in Leeds. "
"The drugs he was trading have a significant impact on our communities here in West Yorkshire, causing significant misery and having a negative impact on people’s lives.
"I’m pleased that he has received a lengthy sentence for his activities.”
