Strike action by air traffic controllers at Leeds Bradford Airport has been called off - for now - following a new pay offer.

The action was due to take place over the weekend (16th to 18th October).

This has been suspended to allow the workers to be balloted on the new offer.

Unite the Union says if they reject the offer - strikes will happen later this month.

Unite regional officer Neil Whitaker said:

“Following negotiations, we have suspended the air traffic controller strikes taking place this week to allow members to have their say on a new pay offer.”

Meanwhile, hourly paid staff which includes security, check-in staff, passport control workers and passenger assistance are being balloted on a separate offer.

Leeds Bradford Airport had previously responded to the planned Industrial action by expressing disappointment at the strikes, highlighting offers above inflation and committing to discussions for a resolution.
