Leeds-based Asda has confirmed a pay rise for 110,000 workers across the UK.
From April staff at Asda and Asda Express stores will see a 4% increase in pay, coming in two stages.
Wages will go up to £12.71 an hour from April 1, before increasing to at least £13.10 an hour from July 5.
Workers at stores inside the M25 will see rates go up to £14.35 in July.
James Goodman, Chief People Officer at Asda, said: “Our store‑based colleagues are at the core of our business and the role they play serving customers is central to our Formula for Growth turnaround plan."
"I’m pleased we’ve been able to give them an above‑inflation pay award and invest in this way. I’d also like to thank them for their continued hard work and commitment to making Asda better every day.”
