Kirklees man jailed for 13 years after killing friend at disused Huddersfield brewery
The victim, 40 year old Andrew Boltwood, suffered 59 separate injuries.
A man has been jailed for thirteen years after killing a former friend and leaving his body at a disused brewery in Huddersfield.
36 year old Dominic Hall, of no fixed address, claimed he acted in self defence when he hit 40 year old Andrew Boltwood during an argument at the former Magic Rock Brewery on Cambridge Road last November.
An appeal was issued three days later when Boltwood was reported missing, leading to his body being discovered inside the site.
Boltwood sustained 59 injuries, including significant head trauma consistent with heavy strikes to his face, further aggravated by a fractured jaw and nose.
CCTV evidence showed Hall returning to an address on Cambridge Road alone, with what appeared to be blood-stained trousers.
Hall was arrested on November 20 and his trousers were seized for tests.
The blood was found to match Mr Boltwood’s, which resulted in Hall being charged with his murder.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Michael Cox, of West Yorkshire Police, said:
“Hall maintained throughout that he had only struck Mr Boltwood in self-defence after the pair began arguing.
“But our investigation proved that the level of force he used went far beyond what would be expected of someone defending themselves, and he has today been rightfully jailed for causing Mr Boltwood’s death.
“I hope this outcome brings some comfort to Mr Boltwood’s family and friends.”
