Detectives launch appeal after Huddersfield 'underwear thief' jailed for sexual assault
Police have described 33 year old Ference Bogdan as a "real danger to women"
Police have launched an appeal for potential victims to come forward, as a serial Huddersfield underwear thief is jailed for sexual assault.
33 year old Ference Bogdan, of Pollard Street in Fartown, will serve a 16 year 10 month prison term for sexual assault as well as burglaries in Huddersfield in 2023 and last year.
Officers say Bogdan had a 'particular' interest in stealing underwear and other personal items from women.
The sexual assault for which he was charged happened after he attacked a woman inside a house in Huddersfield last September.
He was also convicted of trespass with intend to commit a sexual offence and burglary in relation to the incident.
Police think he may be responsible for further offending which hasn't been yet been reported to them.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Thornes, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “In our minds there is no doubt Ference Bogdan presents a real danger to women and we welcome his sentencing.
“He put his victim from 28 September through a terrifying experience in the very place she should have expected to feel safe, and we wish to commend the bravery she showed.
“Her swift report also meant we were able to quickly locate and arrest Bogdan on the same night and get him off the streets.
“The personal items taken by Bogan in the burglary offences he committed also act as evidence, we believe, of the risk to women he poses.
“We would urge anyone who may have had such personal items or underwear stolen in burglaries in Huddersfield but not reported the thefts to police for whatever reason to contact us.
“I can assure residents that reports will be dealt with, with the utmost sensitivity and wish to stress how important it is that such thefts are investigated given the risk persons looking to take these items can pose.”
