Raids carried out after Huddersfield shooting leaves teenager with leg injury
The 17 year old was seriously injured but is now out of hospital
Two raids have been carried out as police continue to investgate the shooting of a teenage bot in Huddesfield last week.
The incident occurred on April 8 on in woodland near football pitches off Spaines Road in Birkby.
A 17-year-old suffered a non-life-threatening leg injury and has since been discharged from hospital.
Two homes were targeted by police last night, with officers remaining on scene today to complete searches.
The shooting happened when the boy was walking with friends near the 'pavilion' on the Woodlanders FC pitches between 8:30pm and 9:00pm last Wednesday.
Witnesses reported seeing two masked men behind trees in a snicket off Richmond Avenue just before the firearm was discharged.
Detective Inspector Fiona Allan of West Yorkshire Police said:
"Multiple and wide ranging enquiries remain ongoing into this shooting, including the execution of warrants overnight at properties in Huddersfield."
"I want to reassure residents that all necessary resources are being employed to investigate what took place and to locate the persons responsible for this exceptionally dangerous offence.
"We want to thank all those who have come forward so far and encourage anyone who has information or footage who has not contacted us yet to do so."
