A Huddersfield man is starting a prison sentence for the sexual abuse and coercive control of a woman.
33 year old Ashley Furey, of Edale Avenue, will serve a three year three month sentence after admitting to two offences of sexual touching, and two of coercive and controlling behaviour at Leeds Crown Court.
His offending was first reported to police in 2025 by the victim, who recalled how she'd faced a 'campaign of abuse' during which Furey would call her over 100 times a day.
He would also turn up outside her house.
Furey has also been made the subject of an indefinite restraining order and placed on the sex offenders register.
DC Kelly of West Yorkshire Police, said: “As detectives we want to commend the bravery and dedication to achieving justice of the woman in this case.
“By coming forwards, making that very difficult first report, and supporting a prosecution, she has done everything she can to help us and the CPS put a man who clearly poses a danger to women behind bars.
“We do appreciate how hard it can be making that first step in making a report, but in doing so, she has made sure Ashley Furey has been made to answer for the abuse he subjected her to.
“His sexual offending against this particularly vulnerable victim was appalling as was his subsequent campaign of hatred against her.
“The strength of her evidence and her determination to see him answer for what he has done however, left him with little choice but to plead guilty.”
