Man guilty of manslaughter after 20 year old stabbed to death in Huddersfield

A Huddersfield man who stabbed another man to death before handing himself in to police four days later had been convicted of manslaughter.
25 year old Luke Belbin was also found guilty of possession of an offensive weapon after an attack on 20 year old Kyrell Fleary-Gayle on January 20 this year.
Kyrell was assaulted outside a home on Greenwood Street and collapsed moments later, dying from a stab wound to the chest.
Belbin was then picked up by 19 year old Cameron Boylan, of Fanny Moor Crescent, with Boylan now convicted of assisting an offender.
Both will be sentenced on September 17.
Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson of West Yorkshire Police said: “We welcome the jury’s verdicts in this case today and hope they will be of some comfort to Kyrell’s family and friends.
“The evidence presented during the trial demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that Belbin had armed himself and was prepared to use lethal violence against Kyrell.
“Boylan also attended that afternoon to assist Belbin, and did his best to aid him escape justice despite having knowledge of the acts the 25-year-old had committed.
“The case itself has been another sad demonstration of the appalling consequences of knife crime, and has robbed a family of a son. "We now await the sentencing of both men by the courts.”
