Huddersfield man charged with serious assault on woman in Almondbury

A Huddersfield man has been charged and remanded in custody to face trial at Leeds Crown Court next month for a serious assault on a woman in Almondbury.

Gareth Brook, aged 34 and of Fernside Avenue, appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on 20th December charged with Section 18 wounding with intent.

The charge relates to a serious assault that occurred at an address on Fernside Avenue in the early hours of 19th December. Police were called to the location at 12.26am and found the victim, a woman in her 30s, who had suffered severe head injuries. She remains critically ill in hospital.

During the hearing, Brook was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 16th January.

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that enquiries into the incident are ongoing, led by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
