Parking charge hike for Huddersfield and Calderdale hospitals
Prices are increasing from £3.50 to £4 for up to two hours
Parking charges have been put up at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary today (September 15), with Calderdale Royal to follow later in the week.
Prices are increasing from £3.50 to £4 for up to two hours, and from £5.50 to £6 for between two and four hours. Stays between four and six hours will now cost £7.50, rather than the £7 they were previously, and parking for more than six hours will cost £9.50, from £9.
Visitors can have 20 minutes free of charge for drop offs and pick ups, and there is no increase in the cost of parking for members of staff.
The Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) says it will also continue to offer free parking for some people in line with national guidance, including for Blue Badge holders (including colleagues), people who attend outpatient clinics regularly to manage long-term conditions and parents of children staying in hospital overnight.
The Trust also said that the move will bring prices in-line with other regional trusts and increased inflation and added: “All the income we receive from car parking at Calderdale Royal Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Acre Mills Outpatients is reinvested back into our hospital services.”
The changes are already in force in Huddersfield and will be rolled out at Calderdale on Thursday (September 17).
