Huddersfield captain Adam Clune faces a battle to play again this season as he is expected to be out for up to four months out with a hamstring problem.

The 30-year-old half-back sustained the injury during the Giants’ 34-4 defeat by Warrington earlier this month and scans have revealed he will be sidelined for 12-16 weeks.

Clune, who returned to action in March after a nine-month injury lay-off, said on the club’s website: “It’s been frustrating not being able to stay out there consistently and play the footy I know I’m capable of.

“More than anything, I want to be out there with the boys because I genuinely believe this team is capable of success.

“It’s been tough dealing with another setback, but I’ll keep doing everything I can to help the group while I recover and make sure I’m ready to contribute again as soon as possible.”
