A Huddersfield man is starting a three year prison sentence after a cannabis farm worth £150,000 was discovered at his house.

64 year old Kestutis Vitkus of Standiforth Lane admitted possession with intent to supply Class B drugs at Leeds Crown Court.

Police raided his home last December, finding a 'substantial' cannabis growing setup including 127 plants as well as lighting, heating units and fans.

PC Isobelle Walker, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “Vitkus was before the courts less than 24 hours after his arrest and we welcome his conviction for what was an attempt to produce substantial amounts of cannabis."

“On entering his property we found a large scale and well thought out cannabis growing operation spread across the house with large numbers of plants already being cultivated.

“In reality, Vitkus had little choice but to plead guilty and we are pleased the drugs he was producing never reached our streets."
