A 72 year old hit and killed by a lorry yesterday in Halifax has been described as 'a loving husband, father and grandad'

Richard Wainhouse was fatally injured on Broad Street when he was struck by the DAF articulated truck near the Orange Street crossroads at around 10:30am.

In a tribute, Richard's family wrote: "Richard was a loving husband, father and grandad who was much loved and who made the most of life."

They expressed admiration for his dedication as a carer for people with vulnerabilities, noting his generosity and compassion.

“We will miss him dreadfully and want to thank those who have offered their support and sympathy at this awful time."

A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but has since been released on bail.

West Yorkshire Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
