Five men sentenced after gun fired in Holmfirth last year

It comes after an incident of disorder on Dunford Road last February

Three men have been jailed after a gun was fired in Holmfirth last year, with a further two also being sentenced for helping them.

It comes after an incident of disorder on Dunford Road at around 9:45pm on February 16 2024.

A car containing five people pulled up on another group, leading to a fight.

Shots were then fired towards of group who were attempting to flee the scene. Nobody was injured.

Those sentenced were: 22 year old Cole Brooke, of Holmclose in Holmfirth - admitted to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and violent disorder. Will serve concurrent sentences of 64 and 18 months.

Marshall Wilkinson, 21, of Broadlands Road in Meltham, was found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and violent disorder. Will serve concurrent sentences of 48 and 18 months.

25 year old Morgan Rowley of Poppy Gardens in Meltham - was found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He already admitted violent disorder and threatening another with an article with a blade. Will serve concurrent sentences of 48 months, 18 months and 12 months for all three offences.

Cameron Rowley, 24, of Derwent Road in Holmfirth, was found guilty of assisting an offender. Will serve a 24 months suspended sentence and have to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work.

24 year old Louis Morgan, of West Avenue in Honley, was also found guilty of assisting an offender. Will serve a 24 months suspended sentence and have to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work.

Detective Constable Amy Hirst of West Yorkshire Police said: “Wilkinson and Morgan Rowley were responsible for a serious incident where a gun was fired. It was a busy Friday night in Holmfirth with innocent bystanders out enjoying themselves.

“It’s fortunate for this pair that nobody was injured. But the outcome could have easily resulted in someone being seriously harmed or even killed.

“We treat incidents involving firearms with the utmost seriousness. They will not be tolerated in West Yorkshire and offenders will be pursued to protect our communities.”
