An office block could be bulldozed to make way for more than 50 flats if plans are agreed with the city council.

Plans have been submitted to Leeds City Council for the demolition of Oak Tree House, on Oakwood Lane in Gipton.

The project would see 52 new apartments created at the site after planning permission was sought by Bauer Group.

A design report said the scheme would deliver affordable housing for the east Leeds area.

It said: “The proposed development represents a modern solution that addresses the housing needs in Gipton.

“The properties will benefit from secure entry, private parking, private ground-floor gardens and communal outdoor terraces.”

The report said the proposed development would be close to transport links and a council-maintained green space.

It said: “The scheme will deliver 52 affordable residential units over three storeys and develop the grounds to provide communal parking for the scheme.

“A sustainable location, the site is within a few hundred metres of several bus stops which regularly run services into the city and local hospital.”

Leeds City Council is considering a full planning application, out for consultation until May 6.
