Four men convicted of sexual exploitation and abuse of teenage girl in Bradford
The victim was targeted in the early 2000s, when she was aged between 13 and 15.
Four men have been convicted of multiple offences for the sexual exploitation of a teenage girl in Bradford in the early 2000s.
The girl was between the ages of 13 and 15 years old when she was abused by multiple men between 2002 and 2004 - she later came forward to police in 2019.
The group were taken to trial as part of a wider case was has already seen nine men jailed for a combined 104 years.
The men convicted include:
- Sohail Hussain, 40 and from Bradford - was convicted of rape and indecent assault.
- Khurram Iqbal, 39 and of Bradford - was convicted of indecent assault.
- Mohammed Sufyan Suleman, 45 and of Bradford - was convicted of two counts of indecent assault.
- Mohammed Baig. 47 and of Bradford - was convicted of three counts of rape and two indecent assaults.
In a victim impact statement, Anna (not her real name) said: “I lost vital school academic years; you took away my basic rights and stole my future.
“The investigation and trials have been so traumatising, the triumph of this trial has not left me triumphant, it has left me feeling pain for the girl I was when you came into my life”.
Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Greenbank of West Yorkshire Police said:
“These convictions end an unimaginable lengthy process for Anna. She has continued to show huge courage and bravery throughout; despite the trauma she went through as a child.
“Whilst these convictions can never bring her childhood back, I hope it goes some way in knowing that these men are now behind bars and cannot hurt anyone else.
“This has been a complex case over many years which has now resulted in 13 men being convicted of these abhorrent crimes.
“These men abused her for their own sexual gratification. Without Anna’s courage to come forward and report these offences to us, they would still be out in society.
“I hope Anna’s story raises awareness of these crimes and if anyone has suffered this kind of abuse, please come forward and report it to us. We will investigate all reports and ensure you have access to any support you need.”
The group will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court at a later date.
