A former police officer has been charged with sexual assault, theft and misconduct in a public office.

Patrick Banks, 42, is due to appear in court next week over offences alleged to have happened both on and off duty when he was working as a Detective Constable in Leeds, West Yorkshire Police said.

He was suspended in May 2025 and has since left the force, a spokesperson said.

Banks will appear at Doncaster Magistrates Court on Tuesday January 6, charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of theft and two counts of misconduct in a public office.
