Two women who were convicted of mistreating residents at a now closed Keighley care home have been given 30 month prison sentences.

62 year old Helen Burridge from Greenfield Road in Holmfirth was convicted over the ill-treatment of four residents whilst working as a Manager at the former Riddlesden Rest Home.

Amy Dickinson, 24, from Fairfax Street in Silsden was a senior care assistant - she was found to have ill treated seven different residents.

A jury convicted the pair back in September last year after a 17 day trial and they have now been sentenced for their crimes (Friday 7 March).

Detective Constable Polly Churchman of Bradford District Police said:

“We welcome the sentences handed down today to Burridge and Dickinson.

“These elderly residents should have been in a place of safety and should have been well cared for.

“The care they provided was appalling and fell way short of the high standards you would expect in a facility like this.

“I would like to praise the care worker who came forward and reported these crimes to us.

“This has been a lengthy investigation and I would like to pay tribute to the elderly residents and their families for their patience throughout the process and I hope todays sentence can give them some closure."
