A man has been jailed for over 11 years for attacking a man over a noise dispute at the Featherstone Hotel.

Adam Sylvester, 29, of no fixed address, was staying on Station Road in Featherstone in April last year when he confronted the victim at their room door about noise complaints.

Sylvester then launched an assault, headbutting and punching the guest multiple times, resulting in serious facial and head injuries.

Sylvester appeared at Leeds Crown Court on earlier this week where he pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The court handed him an initial sentence of seven years and two months, along with an extended sentence of four years due to the violent nature of the crime.

Detective Constable Matthew Sherriff of West Yorkshire Police said: “This was a horrific attack which resulted in the victim suffering serious and long-lasting face and head injuries.

“I’m pleased that justice has been served and that the court saw fit to hand down an extended sentence that reflects the truly violent course of action taken by Sylvester.”
