120 homes planned for former Lloyds bank site in Farsley

A plan to build 120 homes on a former banking site in west Leeds is set to be approved by the council.
A development of affordable houses and flats is proposed on land formerly occupied by Lloyds Banking Group in Farsley.

Planning officers have recommended the scheme is put forward for approval when a panel of councillors meets next week.
A council report said a mix of flats, maisonettes and family homes would be built on land near the Dawson’s Corner roundabout.
Four objections were received to the plan, along with a letter of concern from Conservative councillor Andrew Carter.
One said: “The scale, density and intensity of the proposed development is excessive and constitutes over-development of the site.”
The proposal is to be discussed by the council’s West Plans Panel at the request of Coun Carter, who cited the overall size of the scheme and possible impact on road safety.
Four letters of support were also received, including from Labour ward councillor Peter Carlill.
One of the supporters said: “The proposal would deliver much-needed affordable housing within a sustainable location, meeting local need.”
Others said the development would improve the appearance of the vacant site.
One wrote: “The redevelopment is considered preferable to the site remaining vacant or underused.”
Planning permission for the scheme would be delegated to the city’s chief planning officer for final approval.
That would be subject to financial contributions from the developer, including more than £260,000 towards green space improvements in the city.
Plans for the site were revised since the same applicants proposed to build 133 homes on the former call centre site last year.
