A BUILDING made famous by TV soap Emmerdale has failed to sell at auction.

Bradford Council owned 21 Main Street in Esholt was listed in an online property auction by Pugh this week.

The property had a £200,000 guide price and was made famous by its long-standing appearance in Emmerdale.

Much of the soap used to be filmed on location in the village.

The village remained the home of the show until 1998, when filming moved to a set on the Harewood estate and the post office appeared in hundreds of scenes, becoming one of Emmerdale’s best-known landmarks.

But despite the listing hyping up the building’s fame among soap fans, the property has failed to sell.

The auction followed the successful sale of the post office business itself late last year to local resident and Emmerdale fan, Helen Myers.

The listing said: “The property is sold subject to a six-year lease commencing 19th November 2025 and detailing an annual rent of £11,385.

“The property is well-known to millions of viewers of Emmerdale for its long-running appearance as the village post-office, offering tourism appeal as a result.”

The failure to sell at auction means the property is still on the market.
