Police have made 25 arrests in connection with a protest by Defend Our Juries in Leeds earlier today.

Campaigners for the group, which is calling for the ban on Palestine Action to be lifted, gathered in Dortmund Square in the city centre as part of a national day of action.

West Yorkshire Police say all arrests made on suspicion of supporting a proscribed organisation, in breach of the Terrorism Act 2000.

In a statement, the force said: "Our officers have worked closely with partners to minimise disruption and there remains a policing presence in the Dortmund Square area at this time."

"The public are thanked for their support and patience."
