Keighley Cougars have confirmed the appointment of former Swinton Lions boss Alan Kilshaw as their new Head Coach.

The League 1 club have signed the 42 year old up to a deal lasting until the end of the 2026 season.

Cougars are winless so far this campaign.

Kilshaw is returning from Australia to take the helm at the West Yorkshire club.

He was handed a three month suspended coaching ban by the RFL last year following a controversial incident after a match against Widnes.

Vikings forward Nick Gregson alleged an image had been shared in the Swinton dressing room of him with a noose around his neck, with players being urged to target him during the match.

During a tribunal Kilshaw accepted responsibility for the incident, although it was agreed he did not produce the image.

A statement from Keighley's board of directors reads: “Alan has all the attributes and knowledge of the UK game to take this group and club forward."

"It’s been a rocky start to the 2025 Season and we, more than most, are not happy with how things are shaping out on the field, but there’s plenty of time to get things right.

“With the group of players we have at the club, we are sure we will be fighting towards the back end of the season when it really matters.

"We thank Jordie Hedges for stepping in as Interim Head Coach who has held himself impeccably and to the highest of standards, who now reverts back to his role as Assistant Coach.”
